Bar Muscle up

I was warming up doing some strict pull ups, i felt pretty strong (comming off a rest day) so i thought i would try a bar muscle up. I've been doing them on the rings a little while now but i was shocked when i actually did it on the bar. Thank you crossfit!

Re: Bar Muscle up

Impressive! Good Job!

What's harder? MU on rings or MU on a bar? Either way, any MU is impressive. I have to admit that I haven't tried one yet. I was just wondering what I should try first. I think I have a super-long way to go until I get there. In fact, I can't kip yet, so that just shows where I'm at.

Re: Bar Muscle up

As has been posted before...

Order of difficulty easiest to hardest
1. Kipping MU on a bar
2. Kipping MU on rings
3. Strict MU on rings
4. Strict MU on a bar.

Good job, Luke - did you do it with a false grip on the bar or regular pull-up grip?

Re: Bar Muscle up

I did it with a false grip. Is possible with regular grip?

Re: Bar Muscle up

I prefer the regular grip to a false grip, just as long as my thumbs are around the bar to begin with. First time I attempted this I noticed that I launched my hands off the bar with my kip! This made an impression on me that I didn't want to repeat!
