Re: Paleo Bread

Calling paleo bread, bread is a misnomer if anyone thinks it is going to be bread. The evolution of my wifes paleo "bread" went from dry brick to pretty squishy. Now that she has it figured out it is good.

The real key though is to put some damn flavor in it; herbs, spices, something else besides just the flour.

It's one of the things I've missed since becoming paleo.

Anyway, it was definitely different from real bread but close enough to be an adequate substitute. It definitely was more dense than real bread so if you're yearning for that light, flakey feel of bread, this doesn't have it. But unlike Steve's experience, it wasn't moist or spongy at all. It actually did have a bit of crunch to it.

Overall, it get's a thumbs up from me. It's not the same as bread but it does the job. And Paolo, yes it's definitely more expensive compared to actual bread but I'd rather pay an extra few dollars to occasionally something bread-like while still keeping it paleo.. Also remember that you normally wouldn't be eating this as often as you would with bread so one loaf will probably last you longer.
One of my favorite meals I've given up since going Paleo...now you have my mouth watering! I better buy the Paleo bread and at least give it a try Thanks for the reminder.

Re: Paleo Bread

I bought the bread from Whole Foods here locally. Tried both and really couldnt stand either one. Thought they both tasted like a dirty sponge would. Just my two cents though.

Cool. Hopefully for you it'll be "close enough" like it was for me.
Hey, to the folks that felt it was soggy/spongy/moist, did you guys try toasting it? I did take a bite out of an untoasted slice and it was pretty bad. But for me, toasted was OK.

Anyway, I'm not saying if you toast it it'll be great and just like real bread but I'm done w/my first loaf and will be getting some more. Unless Marshall wants to share his wife's recipe of course
