Re: The Wolverines Log

Wednesday, 06.22.11
Power Snatch:
40x4, 50x2, 60x2, 70x2, 75x2, 80x2

Ridiculous that I can power snatch 80x2 and my 1RM is only 85kg. Must OHS more.

DB Press: 8, 8, 8 (last set done each arm separate)
40, 50, 50(L and R)

DL: 5, 5, 5
100, 120, 140

Didn't go hard on the DL's.

Re: The Wolverines Log

Friday, 06.24.11
Outside workout today. Went to the beach and then hung out with friends in the evening. Luckily brought my rings with.

"Ryan"
5 rounds for time:
7 Muscle Ups
21 Burpees

15:38

Good workout. Some of the MU's weren't quite full extension due to not having them very high. Luckily didn't rip on them though. Burpees got surprisingly hard. Must have been my junky diet over the last day or two.

Saturday, 06.25.11
"Badger"
Complete three rounds for time of:
95 pound Squat clean, 30 reps
30 Pull-ups
Run 800 meters

28:23

That was horrible. Hot outside. Squat cleans hurt!

Went in to train today. Warmed up, did some push jerks with the empty bar, stretched out an went home.

Never really had that before. Always been consistent with training and never had a problem with motivation. Went in and just didn't want to be there today. So I decided to listen to my body an just packed it up. I really don't understand how Mikko trains alone all the time. If there had been other people there I may have stayed and worked out anyway, but when you're alone there and you just want to go home it doesn't require much thought.

It's been a strange spring/summer...

It happens sometimes. In those instances you'd better either start a WOD within 2 min or just pack it in. It's hard to train when the mind isn't there. Just chalk it up as an unexpected rest day and go get it tomorrow.

Re: The Wolverines Log

Monday, 06.27.11
Today was insane. Got up at 6:30 an went to work landscaping all day, then booked it home, made a quick supper an shoved it in tupperware and came straight to Prairie Crossfit to coach all night. Luckily there was an emptier class an I got the WOD in:

"Nasty Girls"
3 rounds for time:
50 Squats
7 Muscle Ups
10 HPC, 60kg

8:34

Pretty decent. I feel like I've done this one before sub 8 however. It was unfortunately during a short time period where I had no log so I honestly don't know. Maybe could have gotten a slightly better time if I had warmed up better. This time I had high ceilings so muscle ups were full extension with turn out. Feeling much better today.
Then I coached the last class of the day for about an hour and afterwards did:

Overhead Squat:
40x5, 60x3, 70x3, 80x2, 85x2, 90x2(f), 90x2

Can't believe how much of a goat these have become. Guaranteed this is whats holding my snatch back. I find OHS aren't taxing at all on my core or lower body, the most taxing part is in the shoulder girdle just holding the weight up. I'm gonna do these at least once a week if not twice for the next while. I hit a PR in February at 225x1. Basically lost 20lb off this movement since then. I feel like a few things have suddenly dropped a bit lately while others continue to climb. Not sure what's causing it.

Ha ha I'll keep that in mind. Have you ever had periods in your training where one thing started to lag and almost regress just a little bit?

Tuesday, 06.28.11
Press
40x5, 50x3, 60x3, 65x3, 67.5x3, 70x3(f), 70x3 (PR!)

Considering my 1RM PR is 72.5 I'll definitely take this.

Then:
AMRAP 7 min
10 Push press/jerk, 115lbs (from floor)
25 Double Unders

6 rounds even

At least I think it was 6 rounds even... may have been 7. That's what happens when your in a rush to finish and book it outta there and you're counting your own rounds. We'll say it was 6. Impressed that Jay got 9+. Shoulders were definitely hardly contracting by the last round of PP's. It was awesome. Doubles weren't on today, if they had been may have been able to squeak in another round or two.

Clean
40x4, 60x4, 80x3, 90x3, 100x3, 105x3, 110x2(f on 3rd)

Wanted to get a triple at 110kg but wasn't in the bag. I easily cleaned it and caught it but I couldn't squat out of it.

Back Squat
60x5, 80x5, 100x5, 110x5, 120x5

Probably could have gone up to 125x5 actually. But after a long day working in the sun my legs were already toast, an I do have to get up for work tomorrow! So I just called it. Rest tomorrow, back to train Friday morning on Canada Day! Got a fun day planned, gonna be a good day off work.
