Re: Hybrid Program Heavy Metcons

I think Lasek kind of took over where Gant left off. They are good buddies in real life and that is purely speculation.

I think the people you find in this thread just want a heavy met con. I don't do Lasek's program, I have done the Westside Strength program, and also am about to start GSLP. Both of which I will still continue to do these type of heavy wods as I think they are what works best for me and my goals.

That being said, programming wods is fun for me. So I post some that I never do just because I don't have a chance to. I'm always thinking them up in my head, so why not post them. Maybe someone will get some use out of them.

Soooooooooooo........

5 rounds for time:
1 deadlift @ 385
10 handstand pushups
20 doubleunders

Re: Hybrid Program Heavy Metcons

Has anybody tried training solely with heavy metcons? If so, what effects did you notice, particularly on maximal strength if any, and how did you program it?

I currently struggle to maintain consistent training, due to the usual demands on time (work, commuting, family, etc) but usually find a good 30 minutes maybe three times a week, usually two. Iíve been focussing on strength and have basically done no conditioning for a long time, as after Iíve warmed up and lifted itís basically game over time-wise (this resulted in severe humiliation when I agreed to do a Jillian Michaels workout with my wife and I practically hit the foetal position by half time).

I was thinking I could fit more 10-15 min workouts in than I could lifting sessions, plus it would incorporate some conditioning. My plan would be 1 day on, 1 day off, short heavy metcons only.
