$135 Squat Stands

I received this company's catalog. Don't know anything about the company but it seems like a good buy for those of us with limited equipment building skills. Wish they'd post their prices online...

Those are the squat stands that we have in our gym, and they are indeed VERY good for the money. Very cheap, well made, and nice looking. I have sent quite a few people who have bought bars or weight sets from me to promaxima to buy those squat stands. Everyone who has gotten back to me has liked them.

100 lbs each! That's pretty heavy-duty stuff! I'm afraid my clumsy self would find a way to trip over the legs, probably during a heavy set! :yikes:

I just bought a GHD from them today. Merry Xmas to me. They are local for me (Houston), so no shipping. While I was picking it up, they gave me a catalogue. The products all look very reasonably priced from my quick inspection. I would encourage anyone to contact them for a catalogue and check it out.

We dont use anything else for squatting except stands like this, even when there is 600+lbs on the bar. I have never had any trouble with them moving too much. The advantage of them is that you can put them on a platform when you are needing to squat or something, then move then to the side when you dont need them. Really, REALLY cuts down on the space you need in your gym.

Also, they do not weigh 100lbs apiece. My guess is about 40lbs apiece, maybe even less. I dont know why the link posted said 200lbs, that is wrong.

There is one thing I really like about these squat stands verses most squat racks and most other "affordable" squat stands... The "saddle" where you place the bar has a very nice one piece plastic insert that is virtually indestructable and is also held in via screws. I have never had one come out. This keeps your bar from contact with the metal of the stand. On most squat racks, your bar rubs the rack, and on many other squat stands, they glue in some type of protection, and it invariably comes off after a while.

If you are using a decent bar, this is really helpfull. No one wants to pay $200 or $300 or even $700 for a bar and after a year or two of using it have the knurl rubbed away from contact with the squat rack or stands.

Do the racks adjust low enough to also be used to perform the bench press? Not that Im doing much benching these days but was curious.

Pro Maxima has alot of nice stuff but much of it needs to ship crated, costing some serious bank.

I have been wanting to get some of theses ever since I bought my Pendlay bars. I finally ordered 2 sets yesterday.

Shipping was only $65 per set to San Diego.

In a previous thread http://www.crossfit.com/discus/messages/26/33116.html it was stated that they do not go low enough for bench press.
