Exercises Movements, technique & proper execution

A quick question about thrusters: when in the "racked" position, is it actually a "racked" position like in a squat clean (bar supported by the torso, near the collar line, merely balanced by the hands and arms)? Or is the bar supported by the arms at all times?

It's up to you but idealy, is racked on the shoulders. If you support with the arms your hip drive will be disipated with arm motion. If supported on the shoulder structure you get the most bar motion for your hip drive. The problem with this for most people is wrist flexibility, this can be helped by letting the bar roll to the last joint of the fingers when in the rack position. In other words - let go of the bar. The whole thing takes some practise and the wrist flexibility will come.

What if D-bells are used for thrusters? Won't the weight be totally supported by the arms in this case?

DB's can be rocked back on the delts...I'm lazy and that is what I do!
