I got mine second hand for $50, and a side of beef doesn't even fill up half of it...

My wife and I split a 1/2 cow with another couple, and it ended up being about $3.00/lb for the whole thing. It was ~75lbs for each couple, and half of that was ground beef.

It was delicious.
Do you mind sharing what farm did you get your beef from? I live in the same area as you. The farm I have been buying my grass fed beef from recently raised their prices, so I'm looking at other options

Re: Which meats to buy organic?

Thanks for the responses everybody. I am now trying to convince my parents to buy a chest freezer for the house and then go spend the money upfront for beef. Im hoping it works out. They shouldn't be opposed to it since they both are trying to be healthier and you can't get much healthier then eating animals who also ate their natural diet. Once again thank you.

Re: Which meats to buy organic?

I got an apartment sized chest freezer used for 50$. Some people will even give it away for free, because they want to make room in their garage. Good deals to be found!

Justin, if it helps with sizing, I'll tell you that our portion of the 1/2 cow (1/4 I guess) probably could have fit inside a normal fridges freezer.... if there was absolutely nothing in it other than the beef lol I would have been tight.
