Sheila, I have the same problem. I never get a full 8 hours. I'm always wide awake at 3am. I was told this happens to a lot of women, and it is called "the witching hour".

It's actually the time they used to burn "witches" at the stake. they say (who ever "they" is) that waking up at this hour is an unconscious reaction to a woman being burned at the stake. Now, isn't that a happy thought! :uhoh:

Tell me more of this miracle lifestyle that causes a full night's sleep.

When I get a full 8 one night, (usually because I'm dead tired), I can't sleep the following night. I typically get 6 1/2 to 7 hours, occasionally only 4 or 5.

Not that it's important, but for the record, the "witching hour" is 3:00am because that's when "demonic" or evil supernatural activity ("witching") is supposed to be at its highest.

Because 3:00 in the afternoon was (supposedly) when Jesus died. So evil activity is at its height at 3:00am, sort of in mockery of that.

That's at least the tradition.

Krista:

I can attest personally that you are not evil. Your husband may be evil, but I'll have to consult Leanne's grimoire and sacrifice a chicken at midnight in the center of a pentagram in my cul-de-sac for confirmation. In any case, Satan could be dancing on my forehead at 3 AM and I doubt I'd bat an eyelash. I'm happy when I get 7 hours. I feel like a king when I get 8-9.

Dear Abby,

OK...here's an oddity:

Generally speaking, I can go to bed between midnight and 2am and wake up at 7-7:30 w/o any issues. I'll be happy and chipper all the live-long day.

If I go to bed when my wife does, around 10pm or thereabouts, I wake up around 3 or 4am. Sometimes, a noise will wake me at around 12pm, and it's no-sleep until 3-4 or 5 am...because I get bored.

If I go to bed around 10pm, and get back to sleep if I wake up around 3am, I'll sleep until almost 8am. And then I am tired and want to nap all day.

So what's all this "we need 7-9 hours of sleep" thing when I am MORE tired when I get that amount?

Signed,
Befuddled in Phoenix

Don't make me call Millenia! With there lightning fast response time, I'm sure you will be able to perform Tabata chicken sacrifices.

Tim- your sleeping habits are a lot like mine. I think some of us were programmed for less rest.. I think itis the evil ones... "no rest for the wicked..."
