Exclamation LI/NY NAVY SEAL "MURPH" 5k Benefit Run

Many Crossfit Members have tried the "MURPH", named for
USN SEAL Lt. Michael P. Murphy ~ Medal of Honor Recipient
KIA 6-28-2005 Afghanistan during Operation Redwing

If anyone is interested, on Sunday 9/21/08 at 9am at Bethpage State Park, Nassau County NY (Long Island) there will be a 5K Run/Walk in Murph's honor and memory.

Honorary Co-Chairs are Daniel and Maureen Murphy (his parents) and Congressman Peter King.

There will be cash prizes for the top overall finishers and gift bags. Registration is only $20.

New Island Hospital in Bethpage is expanding and will be creating a new NAVY LT. MICHAEL P. MURPHY EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT. All proceeds will be going to purchase new emergency medical equipment and supplies. New Island Hospital's ED delivers rapid fire life-saving care to nearly 40,000 patients a year. Murph himself always took on the role as protector, as a SEAL, and in earlier days as a lifeguard.

Registration forms and information are available at www.newislandhospital.org

Thanks for your support!!!

See my troop support blog for Lt Murphy tributes and pictures of memorials dedicated to him and the lost members of Operation Redwing. They will not be forgotten!

What a wonderful idea! Wish I could be there. I'm currently reading "Lone Survivor," which is a fabulous book. Those guys were such heroes. Enjoy the run!

I'm half-way through as well and really have a new (I've always had it) respect for SEALS.

This was a fantastic book. I read it last year sometime. I lost my brother in Afghanistan in 2004. I should develop a WOD for him. You know I think I'll start a thread for some help from the CF Community. RIP Murph
