Should Crossfit be your only workout for the day?

I was just wondering if after certain WOD's when you dont feel completely spent, should you throw in another workout?

Re: Should Crossfit be your only workout for the day?

yes, no, and maybe so...

it will depend on factors like your goals, your diet, your ability to recover, the level of intensity applied to your workouts, how often you WOD, and what program you follow.

say for instance you follow CFE or CFFB to the letter, or if you actually do the mainsite WOD on the 3/1 schedule, then that is probably all the work you need. but if you only do WOD's at a box 2 or 3 times a week, then it would be wise to add a little extra.

just my $0.02

Goals + current fitness level + nutrition + recovery factors = what your program should look like

If you're following CF.com, you'll probably learn to appreciate the "easy" days because they allow you to recover from getting crushed the day prior or to prepare for getting crushed the next day.

Plus, "feeling completely spent" is not an accurate way to assess the effectiveness of a single workout or an entire program. You can't go balls to the wall and end up in a pile of sweat/puke every day and continue to make sustained progress over the long run.

I would also say it completely depends on your goals.

I believe this is pulled straight from a Chris Spealler talk...
Personally, I prefer programming that includes majority couplets/triplets, one heavy day/week and go long every once in a while. For me, the couplets triplets would be a good mix of both strength work and met cons.
