Re: Has anyone lost a significant amount of weight?

I started CrossFit at around 298 lbs. After about 6 months I was in the 230's. I lightened up on the Metcon's and started a strict strength program that my CrossFit Coach wrote. I put back on 35 lbs but my lifts went through the roof (I was also eating to match my lifting).

Now, I train in Jiu-Jitsu, Judo and weight lift on my off days. My wife still goes to CrossFit. The gym I work out in and the CrossFit gym are actually in the same building in an industrial complex, just 3 doors down which is convenient.

I'm still of the opinion that CrossFit is the single best way to change your body mainly due to the people that go to the box coupled with the workouts. When you have some accountability for your attendance and people cheering you on and/or helping you out, it makes all the difference in the world. It's like having 25 lifting partners.

Re: Has anyone lost a significant amount of weight?

I'm down 70+ pounds since the first of the year without CF. That's diet and cycling (road and mountain biking). I'm getting ready to add CF to my workout arsenal so I'm hoping that will take me down to my goal of 200 pounds in time. I'm 245 now.

Re: Has anyone lost a significant amount of weight?

I am coming up on my one year mark. To date I am down 88lbs. I started at 288lbs. For the last month or so my weight has remained the same as I have been working on my oly lifts and my strength has been steadily increasing.

Re: Has anyone lost a significant amount of weight?

My husband was a 5'10" 330 pound powerlifter for years. I brought him over to the darkside of Crossfit and in 6 months he's down to 268. He still has retained quite a lot of muscle and has a different body structure then most people that crossfit, but we think that we can get him down to at least 250 and he'll be a lot more lean then he is at the moment. Diet and good programming really is the key.

Re: Has anyone lost a significant amount of weight?

I lost 20lbs. about a year after starting CrossFit. That wasn't so much from the training as it was from better nutrition after I got some diet advice from Dave Werner at CrossFit North. He basically put me on a Paleo/Zone diet, which was the standard CrossFit approach at the time (10 years ago). Worked great for me because I was able to put on a lot of lean muscle after that.
