I managed to complete the muscle snatch, boxjump, back extension workout in 8:45 using 2/3 bw on snatch. I am down from 165 to 159 for BW...I am not sure if that is due to canstantly coughing up a lung or other body composition changes!

Hi new recruit here with a question about the muscle snatch technique. I think I get the part about catching the weight at full hip extension, what about the start? Do you start from a hanging clean position or from the ground? Or either?

My skinny self was only using 115lbs so it ended up being a very low hang. I think a few inches lower than if I had a full sixe plate in the bar and just went to the floor. From my experience the hang snatch/clean is more demanding because ones musculature is decelerating and then reversing the path of the weight. If one goes all the way to the ground it may be a longer pull but the deceleration phase is removed.
