Buy-in/cash out??? meaning please

This will probably sound dumb but what does a buy in and cash out mean?

Simply exercises that are done pre and post wod respectively.

Eg WOD is 3 rounds for time of X, Y, Z
then cash out is 100 double unders or 4 x 10 GHD's or sled drags or ad infinitum

Cash out is mostly just to milk that last drop of effort out of you, generally skill based.
