Roger,
You mean "I should do them on higher parallettes or rings so you can go shoulders to bar/rings. Then it's the same ROM." (but I cheat) I touch my head or nose to floor but do them with my hands on the floor.

I have a really really long ways to improve on my balance before I can do them on rings. I am still trying to keep an unsupported handstand for longer than 15 seconds. I was able to get 3 sets of 4 reps of clean & strict press with 70 lb dbs

I don't know why I see something like this and start working it, but I do. Everyday as part of my workout I have been doing a total of 12+ reps with pair of 75s clean weight, then strict press, today 75s for 5,4,4. Going to get a set of 12!

Also doing HS ballance practice and one arm static holds both of which are really hard for me. As well as clean grip SN then OHS for reps.

Started doing another really cool move after reading Dan Js site. On one or two workout per week I do a one arm snatch then rock bottom OHS, put weight down then switch arms. I can do a sets of ten reps with 75lbs. Really makes me suck wind...

I like the one arm snatch and OHS idea. I'm going to give it a try... It should help with my rom on the one arm snatch...

My goal is to do this by years end, w/o a lot of specific work on it...

Anyone know of a good video of the DB clean? I assume, the palms face one another at the top? That's how I've done it anyway...

Roger,
My hands face each other at the shoulder position, but when at the top press are facing forward don't think about it, just the way they end up.

Craig...WOW, that one hand OHS was a very humbling experience. I felt like I was learning OHS all over again. Definately an area I need to work on. Obviously, that's why I don't drop lower with one hand snatches. Something else to work on:-)

The rotating of the hands outward at the top of a press is pretty natural. On rings this is conciously resisted so that the rings are still held parallel (or even slighty turned out) in the handstand. This is required for stability in many motions. This carries over to any overhead dumbell work I do. I tend to keep my hands turned in towards eachother.

Well, I went at this today after "Mary".

I got one (count 'em, 1) rep with 2 x 75 lb DBs.

Dropped back to 2 x 60 lb, got 12. That was a workout. Something *else* to work on (groan).

I tried this after my ring workout today.I got 7 reps(no push press)with two 32kg kettlebells.I have set 15 reps in this excercise as one of my goals for 2006.Should be possible if I train the lift once or twice a week.

Got 3 reps after working on pullups-- with 55 lb dumbells--will definitely have this as one of my goals this year.
