I've searched the site but I can't seem to find out how many reps Brad Harakawa did to win the muscle up competition back in 2003. How many did he do? What is the current record for CrossFitters in consecutive muscle ups?

I dunno, I have 8, but Dave at Crossfit North has 9, and Michael Street has 10 (I think that's right)

My buddy popped 10 on a bar easily the other day...with very little sleep too! I'm sure he could go for 15 in optimum conditions. Do you guys want video? And BTW is 15ish reeeally the ceiling here?

Consecutive muscle-ups are a huge problem area for me. The descent kills me, and I'm still under quite a bit of discomfort when my left rear deltoid contracts fully or rotates. My goal currently is that with my shoulder as it is, if I hit 35 PUs by the New Year, I should at least have 5 consecutive MUs.

15 on a bar sounds pretty darn good. On the rings though I'm thinking it has to be in the upper 20's or low 30's, perhaps higher.

Just a thought. What we call a muscle up is just how gymnasts get up on the rings. They do it over and over during practice I assume. I think Neal is probably in the ball park here. 10 probably isn't a big number.

Jeff, if the gymnasts are below level 6 I think and don't have good swings they will use muscle ups to get up. And you're probably right it would be anywhere from 20-30 in each practice. For level 7 and higher mainly the gymnasts will already be working towards or have back uprises and at least be working on strength moves like the iron cross, levers, and maybe planches. That's how they would develop strength after not using muscle ups anymore.

10 cannot be the record, I did a workout of 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 rep sets of muscle ups the other day with just 1 minute rest between sets, and none of the sets were broken.

It has to be somewhere around 15-20.
