front lever injury?(pain/tightness under arm towards posterior shoulder)

Last week, was stupid and hung too long on my front lever progression. A few days later, I tried to do pullups and I could just feel it under my armpit. The weird thing is, I can do pushups and dips with no trouble. It seems any sort of retraction on the left side causes some tightness.

Icing and massaging currently, and it has gotten better, but just wondering if any of you have suffered the same injury?

Probably a bit of a strained muscle... maybe subscap, posterior delt, teres major or one of the external rotators.

Take it slow. Heat would probably be better once you start working back into it

Thats exactly what I was thinking when I was doing trigger point therapy on that side.

Heat is usually what I use, but I have been using contrast showers as well(2-3 min hot, 30 sec to a min cold) and that really seems to help. Either way, I am taking it easy this week on upper body and just doing lower body work without much shoulder involvement. Every little nagging injury I get, I end up a bit smarter than before!!!

Doing the dc shoulder rehab stuff this week with a light weight. Figure I may as well do something that doesn't irritate it!!!

Pain is reducing each day. On day 3 of the rehab routine. Also paying strict attention to my neck trigger points on my left side and the subscapularis!!!

Doing contrast showers 1x per day. Plenty of massage(3-4 times), vitamin c, arnica cream, lots of good quality food, and water!!!

Re: front lever injury?(pain/tightness under arm towards posterior shoulder)

Some tightness is still present, but its about 95% right now. I was able to do horizontal rows the other day(did higher reps for therapeutic purposes). Going to try ring pullups today and see how it is!!!

Re: front lever injury?(pain/tightness under arm towards posterior shoulder)

Update: If the shoulder is in full adduction with retraction, it causes a bit of pain. Nothing major, just working around the injury at the moment still. No weighted pullups, just bodyweight with focus on the eccentric motion. Still doing massage occasionally(going to see a therapist to see if she can speed things up).

What is strange is I can do pushups, rows(just recently about 2 weeks ago), and overhead presses no problem. Not doing anything too heavy or to total fatigue, but still working these since it allows me to train without killing myself.

Yeah, if it's stuck around this long you should probably see a professional about it. Glad to see you are seeing one.

Re: front lever injury?(pain/tightness under arm towards posterior shoulder)

Week off of training and so far so good. Sleeping and stretching(more relaxed with some isometric on some days) more, seems to be working well.
