11b/ranger school

well ive decided that im gonna carry out my initial goal that was intended when i joined the army.... im up for my first re-enlistment in around a year and i am re-classing to 11bravo following grad. i plan on trying to get into ranger school... any tips on the training i should be doing... course is VERY VERY phys. consist of alot of running and very long ruck marches...
i have a year to get ready...

Richard i know your 11b could you shoot me a pm, helping me get ready for it and info. how to get into the course...

I am so ready and motivated to accomplish this goal

I can think of two ways for you to get a slot:

1. Reenlist for it.
2. Go through you COC and try to get a slot through your Schools NCO. How many slots they have will depend on what unit you are in (82nd, 101st, 25th, and of course 75th Ranger Regiment will more slots than heavy units).

thanks man... i plan on when i re-enlist to change mos to 11b, but im not sure if i can get the ranger contract as well i forgot what the contract was called... but im getting ready to go to fast class to up my gt score so i can get into the course.. i know you can get it in your contract when you first come in but i wasnt sure how it works on re-enlistments

As far as training up for Ranger school I would say just do crossfit. Also when you enlist in the Army under a ranger contract you go to the Ranger battalion, not Ranger school. They are 2 totally different things.
Yeah you can reenlist for it if you have a job that well allow it aka combat arms.

navy seals WOD. Give that try. I would say to try that for 1-2 workouts a week and do regular crossfit the other days. Build up to doing the Seal workouts 3 times a week. They are long and hard. But they will get you through any training you will need for Ranger School.

thx for the link scott... and yeah i just ran into that thing with the option 40.... so when you get to a ranger battalion does it basically happen through your COC

just kinda answered my own question with option 40, u go to airborne school following that you go to RIP (Ranger induc. program) if you pass that you get assigned to a ranger battalion, then im guessing over time you just go im not sure exactly how it works.. but thats my take on it

Make sure you really understand the difference between an 11B with a Ranger school slot and a Ranger bat 11B. I believe the 75th is currently maxed-out on infantry, so good luck getting a slot. As far as working out, rucking and running and climbing will do it. Don't go too crazy on the rucking, lest you injure yourself.
