Re: Stefan's "Starting Strength" Work out Log

Sunday

Squat 3set x 185lbs x 5rep
Bench Press 3set x 140lbs x 5rep
Deadlift 3set x 195lbs x 5rep
Weighted Dip 2set x "+10lbs" x 8rep

I usualy feel a very slight pain on my lower back after doing squats, but today I was fine and compared to last time, I didn't have much difficulty to do 185lbs!
Everything else was good and are all increasable for next workout maybe except the Bench Press which I think is one of my weaknesses. I find it really hard to upgrade on this exercise for some reason.

Hey stef, good job on the steady increase. It`s getting though but keep the energy up and show that workout just who`s strongest

Re: Stefan's "Starting Strength" Work out Log

Thanks JD!

Today I did my work out at my school's small and cheap gym. I cannot be sure of how much the barbell weights but this is my guess:

Squats 3sets x 190lbs x 5 reps
Shoulder press 3sets x 90lbs x 5 reps
Power Clean 5sets x 130lbs x 3 reps
Pull up 2sets x 8 reps

Anywho, I did all that after not eating much the whole day and having 4 classes in a row with no break, I was suprised that I wasn't really tired during my work out.

Progress...Nice. SS is a beautiful little program. Keep up the dedication, that's the most important thing. Oh, and start raping and pillaging to acquire that gallon of milk.

Re: Stefan's "Starting Strength" Work out Log

Thanks Grant, I'm not drinking a gallon of milk because that would cost me too much money lol But I'm eating a lot instead!

Any who, I realized today that I actually dead lifted more than what I thought last time because of a calculation mistake, I actually dead lifted 205 instead of 195.

Here's Todays work out:

Squat 3set x 190lbs x 5rep
Bench Press 3set x 145lbs x 5rep
Dead lift 3set x 210lbs x 5rep
Weighted Dip 2set x "+10lbs" x 8rep

Everything is increasable except for my bench press I think. Sadly, the last rep on the last set got me to failure. But otherwise I'm very impressed with everything else!

Re: Stefan's "Starting Strength" Work out Log

Today decided not to increase, not because I wasn't able to, but because I don't want to rush it so that I may avoid a plateau

Squats 3sets x 190lbs x 5 reps
Shoulder press 3sets x 90lbs x 5 reps
Power Clean 5sets x 130lbs x 3 reps
Pull up 2sets x 8 reps

Going to increase it next Work out.
cheers!

In the book Starting Strength, Mark Rippetoe says to do 3 sets of 5 reps each workout.

except for cleans and other technical lifts such as snatches, his reasoning being that fatigue should not interfere with technique. This is almost verbatim Rippetoe.
