Question How do you determine your body type!?

Hi,
I'm beginning Crossfit on Monday. I want to know how you determine what your body type is? Is there guidelines e.g. height, weight etc...?
Thanks,
Brandy

Why do you need to know? It's not a question I've seen asked before, so I'm not sure how to answer it.

I think this is the way it talks about getting your block prescription on either the Dr Sears website or in the book "Enter The Zone". I can't remember which one but I've seen it before.

Re: How do you determine your body type!?

I think so Joshua! I'll have to wait till I go home and grab a tape measure today. Thanks so much!

I'm wanting to do Crossfit eating plan aka The Zone I beleive and to clarify I guess what I was looking is under the meal plan guide where it tells you how many blocks to eat and gives you a list of body types. I just wasn't sure what one I fell under. Sorry for being so...non-specific.

Thanks again all!

Re: How do you determine your body type!?

Brandy, a word of advice: Whatever number of blocks it gives you, increase it!!! Increase the fat intake by 2, 3, or even 4. Example:

Book tells you to eat 13 blocks a day. Increase it to 15. Increase fat blocks to 30. Therefore:

4 blocks breakfast (8 blocks of fat)
1 block snack (2 blocks of fat)
4 blocks lunch (8 blocks of fat)
1 block snack (2 blocks of fat)
4 blocks dinner (8 blocks of fat)
1 block snack (before bed) (2 blocks of fat)

Increase fat blocks as needed. You're going to need the extra energy for the WODs. The overall increase is to avoid going into a calorie deficit and losing muscle instead of healing/increasing it. You want to increase overall blocks so you keep within the Zone balance, but you're increasing your protein intake to avoid the muscle breakdown.

Hope I wasn't too confusing. In any case, Paleo / Zone is what people generally eat around here, so if the Zone is not working too well try Paleo. So far for me it's been good. Dr. Sears recently mentioned Paleo is good within the Zone blocks balance, so you have a few options available to you. Just don't forget: Protein = Muscle, Carbs = Vitamins & low octane fuel, Fat= High octane fuel. This is generally speaking, but you get the drift, I hope

Diego
