Pain in front of quad

So I searched the forum and couldn't locate something that was similar, so I will post this here and hopefully you guys are familiar with this.

Since i injured my back, i took off from squatting for 4 months. Back is feeling better and i am started to get back into training. The thing is when I squat, even with just the bar, i felt a really sharp pain in the middle my left front quad.

It is generally the area where i would bring the bar down to when doing cleans or snatches since i use iron plates. the bar would generally always slam there but never had any pain. Lately, i have pain there when squatting and really bad pain when something, anything, presses upon it. For example, setting up to do flat dumbell press, i rest the bells on my thighs before setting back and in my left thigh i have a pain where the bell sits. front squatting is difficult and i have zero drive out of the hole. 135 is a struggle. Its mind boggling since i used to front squat 275 for reps.

Please, any advice.

Re: Pain in front of quad

Is it bruised or discolored? Maybe you just have a super tight rectus femoris that needs massaging and flexibility work?

Hi Aaron, the leg appears fine. No discoloration, no pain when walking, no bruising.

When i run with my dog, I also feel the pain in that one leg only, same exact spot.

Re: Pain in front of quad

I would bet you've strained you rectus femoris and/or vastus intermedius...
Avoid stretching for a while. When the pain subsides do very light active isolated stretching.

This would likely be my guess based on the limited information in the OP. However, with more details it could be something else.

Re: Pain in front of quad

today i did front squats and couldnt push off of the left leg once i went above 135.

when i hurt my back, i also couldnt walk. maybe it was a coincidence, but walking up stairs was very difficult., remember pain in the quad being constant.

also did the leg press today with no weight, 1 legged and i could barely push the sled without any weight. this irks me. its affecting my training in a big way

Thanks for the link, Steven

After reading it, i think i may have a grade 2 tear? i dont really know, because its been over 4 months and its not 100% healed. Big difference, however, from when i first got hurt. running and squatting (pushing off of it) hurts alot. I can deadlift no problem tho
