Getting Started

Hi, I am living in Seoul, Korea and I am interested in getting starting in Cross Fit. Is there anyone here in Seoul doing crossfit or can anyone provide some recommendations on how to get started.

Any help would be great, I am anxious to get going

Thanks

Re: Getting Started

Much of what you do with CrossFit will be determined by what equipment you have. You can do pushups, squats and situps without any equipment but you'll need a bar or a tree limb for pullups. With something to do pullups on you can do different variations of Angie, Barbara and Chelsea/Cindy. So, give us a list of what you have access to and then we can give you a better answer.

If your question was more generic about "getting started" then what you need to do is go to the FAQ's and the video and Start Here sections to come to understand the CrossFit way. Then, soon...before you spend too much time trying to figure things out, try something. Write down the workout as your first day baseline. Try this:

Run 400 meters
40 Air Squats
30 Situps
20 Pushups
10 Pullups

Write down how long that takes and keep it as evidence of your starting point. In a month come back to this workout and you will be shocked at the improvement...assuming you are doing CrossFit during that month.

It's all in the CrossFit website.

Have fun.

Greg

I'm a level one trainer stationed at Osan AB and have gathered a small CrossFit community at the base. Within the next couple weeks, I'll be starting a group Saturdays at Yonsei University and possibly Sundays in Apgujeong with the help of John Frankl, a college professor and BJJ Instructor. We're shooting for April 26 to kick it off. I'd be happy to help you get started.

Re: Getting Started

Eugene, Thanks for the advice. I have been reading through the website and we have most everything at our gym here with the exception of a couple items such as row machine, kettle bells, rope climb and a few others. I tried the workout that you suggested today and I am looking to improve. Thank you again.

Re: Getting Started

Neil, that would be great to meet some people that have been doing crossfit. I am stationed at Yongsan. Please let me know when you plan to meet.

Thank you.
