It's a bit busy for a logo, IMHO.

It's quite clearly mine! It's a Cross, it's the Scottish Flag AND East Lothian is where the Saltire was first seen in the sky and used as an inspiration for the Scots.

This isn't a throw in for "best" just what I did. I am by no means a graphic designer though I am pretty proud of my logo - CrossFit eXalted logo (WFS)

granted, it's not the most creative of designs, doesn't really "sell the product" but it is the symbol of the brand and it works.

We work with Kenia at Avant Marketing. I've had the same logo for 3 years and been happy with it. I found her on guru.com which is a great site, you can put in a budget, review designers portfolios, and pay through and escrow service. Link is w/f/s.

I like simple as well. Ours is definitely identifiable to the community and people like it, but we don't really have anything in our logo that tells people what CrossFit is, or could be, like a barbell, kettlebell, etc.

it needs to be simple enough to translate well in print, on t-shirts, and on the side of your building. Simple is better. Your best bet is to use a graphic designer who knows what they are doing but doesn't charge $5,000. Have them mock up 4-5 logo concepts, and allow you to whittle one of them down until perfect.

See if your designer can mock it up on a few shirts and mugs, etc using photoshop to see what it will look like in that environment.
