Re: Does that CrossFit make women big?

agree with Blair, most guys on this site would have no problem with a woman having a toned upper body and muscular legs/calves. Of course everyone is different, and there is a difference in body composition between say, Camille and Julie F, whereas i personally like Camilles composition better because she looks a little "softer." As in much the same way, woman can decide whether they like muscley Rich or lean but still strong Spealler. My point is, especially for Ashley above, do what it takes to make YOU happy. If your program is making you too bulky to like the way you look then change it up a little to get the look you want.

Re: Does that CrossFit make women big?

Dang it.

Crossfit. Is. Not. A. Weight. Loss. Program.

It. Is. A. Strength. And. Conditioning. Program.

If, by doing Crossfit, you are getting stronger and more conditioned (which it sounds like you are), then the program is meeting its intent.

If that intent does not align with your goals (i.e. if your goal is just to lose weight and size), then you might be following the wrong program. There are plenty of other ways out there to just lose size and weight.

And most of them could care less about your strength, conditioning, and general overall fitness.

Cheers,

Mark

http://carmenamara.com/uploads/Galle...b96c3d1835.jpg Family safe, maybe work safe.

This is my friend, CarmenAmara, that I got to know through GymnasticBodies. To note, she does not do CrossFit nor to my knowledge has ever done much with a barbell. She dances a lot (ex cheerleader as well), does BW based strength and conditioning and plays some parkour these days.

I'm guessing that her leg size is due to a lot of dancing and gene expression and she isn't all that tall (so shorter legs tend to look bulkier). Think of Nastia Liukin vs Shawn Johnson. A lot of the gals in gymnastics just build monster legs because its 3/4 of their sport.

CF is quite "Leggy". My aunt at 5'3" developed pretty similar legs and all she did was run and do aerobics which is just a crapton of BW leg volume (hypertrophy).

So, some of this is just body proportions, especially if you are shorter. Some of this is genetics.

And CrossFit tends to be a lot of squatting with a barbell, without, or running.

Re: Does that CrossFit make women big?

I needed an example of someone who just does BW can get that thick, strong, legged look. Carmen is a pretty good example. This will probably end up promoting her.

Some of her other yoga pics...

So it's not just CrossFit.

Re: Does that CrossFit make women big?

There is no truth whatsoever to the rumor that I Googled and subsequently enjoyed pics of Carmen Amara yesterday. None at all.

In other unrelated news, my salivary glands are functioning fine, tyvm.

Re: Does that CrossFit make women big?

From my limited experience, I've observed that it really is a issue of Genetics. I've seen women eat similar diets, and train together on the same program, as well as lift almost identical numbers, but one just put on a bit more than the other. One is naturally slimmer, and the other is shorter so that can be it.
