Deadlift Day

I'm not quite in sequence with the rest of the CF world and did the deadlift workout today. I left the gym thinking, "Man, I really should have at least done some dips or something. That wasn't much of a workout. All I did was a semi-Burgener warmup, some squats and shoulder presses with the bar, and one DL warmup set, and then did the 5x3. I don't feel like I did anything."

As the minutes have passed since I said that, my back (particularly my lats) is beginning to feel more and more jello-like. The last time I did weight this heavy was during my SS cycle and I could not keep my upper back straight for the life of me. I had a guy watch me on my last work set and he told me "it couldn't be any straighter." I can tell. My lats never felt involved before like they do tonight. Tomorrow could be an exciting day!

Re: Deadlift Day

Just remember that strength days aren't meant to leave you sweating, sore, and gasping for air ... they are meant to make you stronger.

Look at it this way:
If you got sore, but got weaker, would you be happy?
If you didn't get sore, but got stronger, would you be happy?

Great post Anthony. That's what it's all about. I hit a 3 rep PR in my DL yesterday, and probably could've lifted more if I really wanted to push it. But I was very happy with that, and didn't sweat.

Re: Deadlift Day

My first CF workout was 5x3 DL; first time DLing, and I felt afterwards like a champ and coulda done more. Needless to say, the ensuing ~50hours had me moving around like a quasi-crippled geriatric.

Re: Deadlift Day

You guys don't sweat on a heavy triple?!

I need to do more metcons. Sheesh. I was dripping after working up to a heavy triple on squats and a heavy single on DLs today.

Re: Deadlift Day

You guys should move to the caribbean
With the temperature and high humidity in here, I am soaking sweat after 2 rounds of the CFWU. I am not kidding. Actually, if I'm doing a metcon, that's OK because I'll remain sweating the whole time and wont feel it. But if I'm doing strength days, it bothers me because I get a little "cold" with the clothes being so wet, and me resting several minutes between each set of 3 reps or whatever.
