450# Deadlift - 2.5x BW - Nailed It!

As some of you know, I pulled 430# last week at a bodyweight of 182.6 and some key CF'ers told me that I should go heavier and harder right away. Needless to say, they were right! Thanks to all of you for the advice and confidence...

Warmed-Up'd with:

290#
340#
390#
Then...
450#!!! (P f***ing R Baby!)

Bodyweight this morning was 181.2#, so that's close enough to 2.5x BW for me. Felt great...

450# @ 181.2# BW... I'm slowly getting somewhere.

Damn dude 20 lbs more than last week eh?

I've been unable to go much past my pr, sticking around 385 atm. I tend to get too much rounding when i go heavier.

Re: 450# Deadlift - 2.5x BW - Nailed It!

When you get up that heavy, some slight rounding of the back does tend to happen. If you can't keep your form tight, then yeah, I would work with a weight that lets you keep form.

My form feels great on these lifts, however my buddy that I workout with wasn't there for either of my lifts so my back could have that slight curve. 450# would be hard to keep the back straight as an arrow I would imagine, at least for me anyway, but I know that my form is near perfect anyway. I wouldn't push myself like I have been if I thought my form was ****ty... The last thing I would need is a deep impact injury, and deadlifting that kinda weight would definitely do it.

Everything looked and felt great on my end, so we'll keep pushin'!

Great Work, David!

Since I've seen you posting in the heavy met con thread, I'm guessing you're following the GG Hybrid Program?

Have you been making gains in other lifts too?

Re: 450# Deadlift - 2.5x BW - Nailed It!

Thanks, Tom. I appreciate it.

Yes, I've been doing more of a Hybrid lately. And yes, I've seen gains in EVERYTHING. All my lifts have gone up... Squat, press, deadlift. I hit 19 consecutive HSPU's, 15 consecutive Ring dips, I'm faster, stronger, leaner, and actually about the same weight, maybe a tad lighter.

Things are going great. I recommend really spending some quality time with the O-lifts and gymnastic propaganda

And I also eat like a Rabid Horse...

Sick dude. I've found that doing high rep medium weight DLs (such as Diane) really helps my lift go up. Also that was when I started to eat much cleaner... so that could be it too. Keep up the good stuff
