Day 1, Week 1 Base Mesocycle.

4x9 @ 215.

Holy shnikies. 9 rep sets are bloody awful. I wasn't quite seeing stars...but I could definitely feel myself going down that path!

Re: The Official Smolov Support Thread

Just finished the second week even though I had the knee injury. I am actually scheduled for an MRI tomorrow to look for a torn meniscus.

Anyway, got through last week:

2x2 #265

1x3 #265

1x5 #265

All felt pretty good. Set of 5 was somewhat tough. Not sure if I will continue on or not. Probably dumb, but the doctor did tell me today that there is no structural damage to the knee.

It appears that you are a few days ahead of me at the same weight. If I can continue was can share the misery!

Be careful...no use hurting yourself!

I thought the 5x 265 was moderate. 4x9 is something else entirely.

Perhaps I should quit then!

Re: The Official Smolov Support Thread

Just wrapped up base meso yesterday; my last day was 2 days late, but better late than never.

Squat / 300 / 10x3
Bench / 225 / 10x3

Session went well. I'm definitely stronger. My pants are tighter in the thighs and butt. Shirts are tighter in the chest. Weight has remained steady; I imagine I will lean out a bit during intense.

Looking forward to testing 1RM's this weekend, taking the next two weeks to switch up before moving on to the real work!

My mental tenacity has definitely improved BTW. The volume has been challenging; it's benefits will transfer over to my hypertrophy sets once I return to Greyskull LP in January.

Re: The Official Smolov Support Thread

So, I am done with the program but have decided to follow a rep scheme similar to it to work my front squats. I plan to get big like Bulgarian bear!

Re: The Official Smolov Support Thread

I was about 3 weeks into it before I hurt my back and it has been about 3 weeks since. Not sure I am really fresh enough to resume from where I left off.

Re: The Official Smolov Support Thread

I went this morning.

Day one of the 1st actual phase

4x9 @215

Actually felt pretty good. Was a bit surprised by how quickly my heart rate and breathing spiked, but got the reps.

No pain in the knee either!
