I'm going to the Grand Canyon from the second through the sixth. I don't know if there are going to be exercise facilities available to me.

Is there any exercise routines you guys use when that happens?

Thanks,

Kris

Also helpful for me, as I'm going to be going camping up in the Dells for a few days.

Have fun in the Canyon, btw!

Max rounds in twenty minutes
35 air squats
25 pushups

This workout is much harder than it looks. Also obviously, cindy, chelsea, mary, angie, etc. are great if you have a place to do pullups. This is also a great time to work on gymnastics stuff like handstands, hspu's, planches, l-holds, one leg squats, one arm pushups, etc. Bring a jump rope if you have one. Burpees with a jump and pushup are indispensable. It's not that hard to make up an endless number of workouts by varying the protocol you use, even when constrained to a very limited amount of supplies. For example, this is what I came up with in 2 minutes of thinking:

5 rounds for time
150 rotations jump rope
10 one leg squats per leg
10 one arm pushups per arm

Max rounds in 20 minutes:
20 double unders
10 handstand pushups

"Tabata Grand Canyon"
tabata squats
tabata pushups
tabata situps
tabata jump rope

Fight Gone to Arizona
3 rounds, one minute at each station
1. burpees
2. double unders
3. walking lunges
4. clap pushups
5. jumping jacks
6. rest

Have fun on your trip!

Russ those are some very great ideas. I think I'll work on the whole Tabata thing at least once while I'm out there.

I'd like to say that I'll get out and do a great run or something, but I think I'll be limited to about 15-20 minutes of time each day I'm there.

Thanks again to everyone.

Kris

Kris,

Defintely hike to the bottom of the GC! If you aren't planning to camp at the bottom, then wake early - take South Kaibab or the Bright Angel! Hike down and up in one day. don't forget to eat and drink and rest throughout.

Wow - it's one of my favorite places. Have fun!
