5K Run

First off I have to say a BIG Thank You to Crossfit, my gym (Crossfit SoCal), the coaches and everyone in this awesome community. When I started Crossfit about 6 months ago I was in the worst shape of my life. The 400m run in the warmup would leave me winded, I couldnt do any pullups, running a mile would just about kill me and my overall level of fitness would have been best described as "couch potato". My times in all of the workouts have been steadily improving as well as the amout of weight Im able to move. I am now doing most of the WOD's as rx'd (still need to get those muscle ups and hand stand pushups). And I have my first triathlon (sprint 500m swim/15k bike/5k run) coming up in 1 week.

Anyway, Ill get to the point of this post and thats my 5K run time. I just ran 5k this morning and did it in 33:33...I know this is by no means fast for most of you out there but to me it was. The course I ran by my house is all up/down hill and Im closing in on my goal of running it in 10min miles. 6 months ago I would have had to walk most of it and God only know how long it would have taken me. So, again thank you Crossfit for showing me the way to get back into shape. I still have a long way to go but at least Im on the right road!

Re: 5K Run

Awesome job! I'm always impressed more by people who have changed their lives and are doing things they never thought they could - much more so then a 2 sec PR from someone on the elite end.

So congrats, I'm very impressed!

Re: 5K Run

Great job, Mike!

10 min/mile pace (when you are stringing multiple miles together) is nothing to sneeze at for us recreational runners. Sure, the "elite" guys are doing it in half the time we can do it - but at least we ARE doing it!

Good luck in your triathlon.
