Re: 2014 45-49 Fittest on the Planet goal

Wed workout rowed 4k think that I am 4600 in the deficit.

Warm up shoulders, hammies, abs..

185# clean and jerks for 5 min.
First min 8 reps was ok.
Rest of the time rubbish.. form broke down. Ended up with 28 reps. Wanted 30 reps.

OHS- have not gone heavy in a while. 45,95,125,155,185,215 easy, 235 was out in front of me not that heavy but bailed on it.

C2B wide grip- 5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12. Wow the wide grip really worked well. Effortless for sure. Now later my forearms and elbow needed a massage. But could really see this one.

Thursday woke up sick, cold hits again. Coughing and runny parts hehe..

Did not exercise. Slept a lot. Crazy- Day 21 of sickness.

Not looking forward the the open. HA!

Re: 2014 45-49 Fittest on the Planet goal

Did some minor workouts stuff on Monday. Row 4k etc. C2B, wall balls, dumbell snatches.. My heart beat was off the chart and my body was saying Body is not ready. Down to 8.5k rowing deficit.

Tuesday- went to the doctor. 4 hours later got some anti-biotics. Now 4 week sickness. Worked on the yard for 2 hours. Went to just row and stretch and other things. Cleans just to feel it. I was starting to feel better so I kept the foot off the gas pedal. Think I just rowed 4k very easy pace. Down to 7k deficit or so.

Wed- feeling a bit better. Taking my meds. Warm up rowing, checked in with some stuff. Wall balls, strict pull ups, t2b, burpees over the box.

New standards- timed my 10 burpees over the box. First I did :30 and 7 or 8 reps. I do the new two foot type style. I jump on the box low and stay low and drop down as fast as possible to the floor. I pause on the floor for 1 second. Time for 10 reps- :47 faster than I wanted to go. I believe that 10 per min is a good pace.

Squat snatch db- I have done the 80# prior and we don't have a 90# so its 100# or nothing. I was able to do the right arm 100# two times. The left arm mobility and technique is not on par.

Rowed about 7k last night. Super slow pace. Now just 1 day in the deficit or 2800 meters.

I'm headed out of town for my Dads 75th birthday party. I'm getting back on Monday and will do the workout then.. I feel that the longer I have on my meds will be the better. I get back at around 11AM.

After the announcement i'm going to do a little practice on the workout. I see that they have a rig so I wonder what's its going to be. I am just going to try and have fun during the open and not check the leader board that much.

I have had some major drama during the open so many times in my life. True test for me. I was thinking that last year I did not have any drama then thought ohh yeah.. thats right I did not do the open last year. Too injured to do my best.

Being sick for 4 weeks is not the best place to start the open. But if they throw good combos for me I will do fine. If they goat me then always next year right. HEHE

Re: 2014 45-49 Fittest on the Planet goal

Thursday- watched the announcement when rowing. Not a let down but was thinking it would have some new part besides the hang clean and jerk db.

Total rowing 4k last night. Did some work with the DB. Practice 3 rounds of the workout at under race pace.

I did 8 T2B and 5/5 at a slow pace in :45 .

Clean practice- 95,125,155,185,205,220,230 went ok.
Then did 185x8 un broken. I believe that is a pr. I did not have the clips on and wondered if the weights were moving outboard so I stopped.

MU- 1,2,3,4

Some stretching and cheering on peeps doing 18.1

Re: 2014 45-49 Fittest on the Planet goal

I'm very pleased with the new movement. Been curling and pressing those 50lb DBs as my extras most days. Find in this workout I can get my breath back on those as long as I don't use my hips.

18.1 is probably my favourite workout from the open for a long time. Best .1 for sure. And I hate NEW movements so glad it's familiar

Re: 2014 45-49 Fittest on the Planet goal

Friday, Rowed a bit 4k and did some t2b and db practice. Also did some other stuff then judged a few on the 18.1. Still feel winded while doing much. The antibiotics are running the coarse. Wall balls, c2b, reverse ghd's stuff like that.

Rowing about 5k deficit.

Watched my buddy do a 403 great for him. Had an emotional time with my buddy Caden who has had many surgeries in the last few months. Saw him rock the teen scaled 6 plus rounds. Had not been able to do the 35# db prior. Was a mix of motivating him when we could, slowing him down when needed. After the workout he was crying and I thought it might have been because he was hurting but it was emotions and that got me. To see someone so happy and dealing with adversity and get thru it.. while that made my cry. Getting teary eyed right now thinking about this.

Headed to Denver for my dads 75th birthday celebration. Had Sat off with travel and parties. Stayed downtown Denver in a cool loft.

Sunday went to CF 720 just to keep moving. Elevation was 5280 or Mile High City. Walked around 4 miles also. Did some dubs, rowing, reverse ghd's, stretching and more rowing. Had fun watching people do the open. Was hoping that it was the thin air why I was so out of breath.

Monday woke up 5AM, uber to the air port, fly home, urber to the house, nap time, then time to get ready. Was still feeling not up to 100%. Its kind of a rowing workout. Yes I have been rowing a bunch but not in short bursts like this. My stomach was not feeling that well.. well I could go on about being sick 1 month.. etc..

Warm up then 3.2.1 go..

First round was 1:45 row about 1250 watts. Second round was faster while rowing the same. Round 3 then 4 the rowing went down to 1100 ish. I was fast in the transitions and un broken on things. 1/2 way done I was done with 6 rounds + or so. Then came power down on the rower. Seriously down.. Lucky I had a good 1st half and I have been going fast un broken.. last few rows were under 900 or taking over 1 min to row.. I just did not have it. Still recovering from the sickness and it had an impact over the last month. Goal was to have fun: did not accomplish this. With over a min I rowed and hit my 6 of 8 t2b and was super gassed and tired. Way more tired than usual. I walked around for a bit and it took an hour to get straight. So I know I went hard a my body could go. That last row was slow and in cement. Got my 358 and was happy with it. Sure if things were good I could have done more but it is what it is. Sitting with a 170 place and not really caring that much is ok.

After I did some wall balls- 5,10,15,20 that was enough. Not recovered.

I hope that this week will be a good one for me. I feel that 50% of the peeps ahead are not going to do well if they throw a technical workout. If they throw in something like hand stand walks then 90% will go backwards. But good for them and glad for them.

I hope for something that sounds good to me when they announce it. So dubs and hand stand walks works for me. If you want to throw in a 75# or a 165# snatch thats ok also. Hehe..

Being the old guy in the 45's is tough. Im looking forward to wanting to compete again. The spirit of competition is low right now.

Great score Vic considering your situation. 358 is top 200 as you said and there is so much left to do. Hopefully during that time you will peak.

This is my best first week too, so fingers crossed
