Help me hang my rings! **PIC**

So i would like to hang my rings higher as i just got MUSCLE UPS!!!!! YEEEE HAAAAAAA! (sorry.....)

So i want them in my garage. Currently they are hung from my 2x6 beams (see pic) But they are now to low. I need them to be higher so i can perform muscle ups.

Below is a pic of the roof of my garage. Color coated to show what size the beams are via My awesome key

Green- 2x6
Pink- 2x4
Yellow- Wimpy 1x6

The house is old (50's?) So i want to mount them and be safe, and im not to sure where to start. Any ideas? I originally thought to just drill and bolt ibolts to the top 2x4's but my friend said they werent load bearing type beams and a 2x4 would not be enough.

He had the idea of making a vertical type "U" shape coming up from the two 2x6's.....

Anyway, any help would be awesome!

I've got mine bolted to 2x4's...seem to be holding up, my 2x4's are anchored to ceiling joists though. maybe bracing your originals with a couple more 2x4's and using long enough ibolts to go through both....then again, i'm no structural engineer...

How much do you weigh? I weigh about 160 and had mine hanging from 2x4's and it worked fine. I'm sure you could beef those up enough to make it work though.

Re: Help me hang my rings! **PIC**

I'm around 170ish.

I was thinking of doubling up the 2x4`s up on the roof then running 2x4`s across them to kinda make a box.

Didn't know if that would help

Also had the idea of running vertical 2x4's up from the 2x6's. Anchoring them to the 2x6's as well as the 2x4's, to give it that vertical structure and strength. Kinda boxing it in.

2x6 lag bolted to the stud's in the ceiling. 1" pipe threaded into floor flanges that are secured by 1 3/4" long lag screws.

I would do something like that but since you dont have drywall to worry about you could just loop the straps over the 2x6

I think Greg and Jacob hit the nail on the head

Great idea!

I'll use lag screws to mount a 2x6 across the 2x4's. I think I'll go across 4 of them to be safe, 2 lag screw in each (8 total)

Sounds like a plan?
