Muscle-up training on a diving board

Today while I was at my friend's pool, I did some muscle-ups using the diving board (while in the water, I hooked my hands on top of the edge of the diving board).

Being someone who still doesn't have a muscle-up on dry land, I thought this really helped me to understand the transition, as well as the importance of the false grip.

I recommend anyone who's working toward a muscle-up to try this. Being in the water helps make you a little lighter, so the pull-up portion is not as hard, therefore, you can get to the transition and work on that part of the move as well.

I work at a public pool, so I've been trying this for a while. When building up to your first MU, these will help. Most private pools have a board that's maybe 1 foot off the water. If you have access to a 1 meter diving board (which is about 4 feet from the water) I would use that after you "get it" on a diving board in a personal pool. All in all, you've discovered a great resource in your quest for muscle ups. Keep at it!

Just be careful your hands don't slip as you get over the board.

Yeah, I tend to do these when I stay at a hotel with a pool. It's a bit similar to a wall muscle-up.
