Re: Crossfit Open 2016

My thoughts on 16.3:

I don't think Castro's clues of the shotgun or the abstract painting had anything to do with the workout. It seems to me like he just really likes to have fun dropping clues that make no sense and just get people guessing.

We are going to see a lot of ties at 10 on the leaderboard. 1 rep RX beats anything scaled, so if you don't have BMU, and want to maximize your place on the leaderboard, you just do your 10 snatches and record that score.

The Regional and Games level athletes are going to just motor through this workout. I think the best scores will be 13 or 14 rounds.

Emily Bridgers and Rich Froning for the win on this one.

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

Did it this evening. Was a really fun workout. Got 76 reps. Would like to do it again to see if I can finIsh that 6th round. This thing is all pacing. Go in with a strategy time wise and stick to it. you can always redo it if you feel like you paced too slow.

My bet for 16.3 is on Dan Bailey and Camille Leblanc-Bazinet.

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

My predictions for 16.4 and 16.5 are:

16.4: A chipper with WB, DL, BJ and HSPU. After introducing HSPU in the Open last year, and using them so heavily in the Regionals and Games, I think Castro will want to test athlete's ability to do HSPU when fatigued. So I think about 20 HSPU as the last element of a chipper-style workout. Some people will blast right through and go onto the 2nd round and some will hit the wall and won't get past that.

16.5: A repeat of 15.5 rowing and thrusters.

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

16.4 will be somewhat easier i think, but a mash up of things... chipper of some sort

but

16.5 will be killer.... now that Rich is going team this may be the last time we see Rich, Ben and Mat in the same line up. So they are going to make it tough and a show pleaser. Dave will go big and the sh%t will hit the fan... this one will hurt and those that want to go to regionals are going to have to really push it.

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

I think we'll see a chipper with some clasic openmovements like WB, BJ, DL and ending with HSPU as 16.4.

For exemple: 50 WB, 40 BJ, 30 DL, 20 HSPU

And for 16.5 I'm sure we'll see a repeat of 15.5, don't think Castro care that pepole can figure it out

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

Just to recap on 16.3 - i mentioned last week that this would be moving week workout and it seemed to be just that.

Allot of people seem to have struggled with it... but if you could hit a resonable score you flew up the leaderboard. i am surprised how far i have jumped.

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

What is left Thrusters, wall balls, s2o, dl, box jumps, clean and jerk, row, hspu, hand release push ups and OHS?

Hand Release pu's might be too old school so might rule these out.

OHS- we kinda did it with the oh walking lunges.

Maybe a chipper of wall balls, s2o, dl, box jumps, hspu?

Ending with row and thruster workout.

Or maybe Castro says 30 burpee rind muscle ups just to say no one gets in my head?

The only thing that I don't know is what the workout will be. So I will concentrate on what I do know. I can stretch, get more mobile, eat well, sleep well, get a good harmonious position with people around me, I can practice some intense possible workouts with these combo's, I can pick to be positive and reassure myself that I am a healing machine. Floss, yoga, warmup better, cool down.. so much to focus on.

Good luck people!

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

How about dumbells, Cleans, S2O or something.

Castro went 2 new movements 2 weeks in a row, Why not go 3.

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

What about Pistols?
50 Wall balls, 40 Box Jumps (30 inch), 30 Deadlifts (185), 20 HSPU's, 10 Pistols
12 Min cap, and repeat for reps if finished before time expires.
