Guessing that HR push ups are no longer a open style event. Leaves 11. OHS well they did do the oh walking lunge.. same type of movement Leaves 10.

They love that row and thrusters workout but that has been done prior.

Have not done a Chipper yet.. so maybe that is coming up.

I would like to see a simple push pull workout like HSPU and Row or if you want to test some shoulder strength do hspu and wall balls.

10 min of 15 each? Couplet time folks.. Or Chipper time. Heck I don't know, I have never gotten close to getting an open workout right.

So basically 10 movements in 3 workouts.
I predict rounds for time based off of Castro's latest instagram hint, with 4 shells being loaded into the shotgun during the video.

Every week it feels more and more likely that 15.5 will be the repeat.

Maybe this is the elusive "pistols" people have been dying to see.

I wouldn't mind seeing them put something together for 16.3 that I could safely test. So far I am 0 for 2.

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

Just thought of another way Castro could cause some problems.

Jackie 2 rounds
Complete 1 round of Jackie
Rest amount of time took to do first round of Jackie..
2nd round of Jackie but **has to be faster than the 1st round.
Total time 2 rounds of Jackie.

That would be a rough one. Go too fast or don't give a buffer for fatigue you fail the workout. Would have to employ some pacing for sure. Would be cool to see the top guys going for it and trying to hang on.

Jason K was the fastest during the Reginals with a 5:09.. was a couple of years ago.

Interesting concept. I've had fun playing with concepts for Jackie when helping program competitions but never thought of this.

How would you handle the requirement that the first round needs to be faster than the second? Would you DNF anyone who didn't make that goal or what?

I was thinking that the way to handle that would be to just have your score be the slower of the two rounds- whether it be your first go through or your second. Would be a really interesting test of strategy and recovery.

That is kind of a cool idea. I have seen Fight gone bad scores that way - either the lowest overall round is your score, or the lowest score of each exercise regardless of round. Amazing how people do the first round of FGB differently when such a scoring scheme is employed!

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

The "Double Jackie" we had in the 2015 Masters Qualifier was a brutal workout:

2 rounds for time of:
1,000-meter row
50 thrusters
30 chest-to-bar pull-ups

Men use 65 lb.
Women use 45 lb.

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

Mike, yes that one was bad.. plus it was 75# for men. But I liked that one.

The double Jackie having to do the 2nd Jackie in less time than the first one would cause all types of stressors. Would be an ultimate test in your training and recovery. Sure people can knock out a Jackie fast but resting and hitting another one faster well that would take some strategy.

You would have to have both times in order to not have people sand bad the first one.

Could be used in many applications of workouts. Castro has not even dipped in the diabolical set of tricks that are available to him with some thought.

Personally I think that this open has been different from the others. Introducing a new movement then making it 20 min was good.

Going heavy in a met con was a good idea also in 16.2.

I have toyed with doing a comp like American Ninja Warrier. Have a chipper style with one station 1 min of time to do the work. Continually ramping it up so no one can finish the workout. Just see how far someone can go.

1st min- 20 wall balls
2nd min- 25 pull ups
3rd min- 10 cleans 155
4th min- 7 muscle ups
5th min - 100 dubs
6th min- 8 dead lifts 275
7th min -17 burpees
8th min- and so on until you break everyone.

Sure it would take up some space in the gym. One person going at a time but you have a competitor going every min.

I have emailed Rogue about some games type of apparatus but Big Bill H has not responded. One idea is really cool. Everyone from Teens to masters could do it. We will see if he responds.
