Wink Re: Crossfit Open 2016

16.2 being in a garage gym, I'm going to say that don't install a rack in someone's garage (although if they did and left it as a gift that would be amazing!). Therefore my 16.2 prediction is a snatches and dub's for minimal space and equipment requirement.......

AMRAP 17:
90 DU's
75 pound Snatch, 30 reps
90 DU's
135 pound Snatch, 30 reps
90 DU's
165 pound Snatch, 30 reps
90 DU's
210 pound Snatch, as many reps as possible

Since I predicted it, it'll never happen!

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

Once 16.2 is announced, anyone want to predict the winners?

When I saw that Josh Bridges and Emily Bridgers won 16.1, it seemed obvious for the movements of 16.1. Historically Josh kills workouts that include burpees, and smaller athletes (lower weight, better strength-weight ratio) would have an advantage with chest-to-bar pull-ups.

And their names are so similiar (Bridges and Bridgers). Of course they won! (Well, just kidding about that last part).

I'll throw my prediction out there after 16.2 is announced.

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

Anyone see the FB and Instagram posts about the box whose was using small metal plates for 16.1. The idea was it made the jump over the bar for the burpees lower. HQ has penalized their athletes with a 15% reduction in reps.

i coulda sworn they stated a specific ("standard"?) size for the plates / height, but guess not.

on the other hand, COME ON GUYS!! how could that entire gym/box be ok with that and think nothing would come of it? (or they, did and were willing to get into argument with Castro after the fact?).

Here's the example (wfs) https://www.instagram.com/p/BCZSkAEtvag/

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

I saw Castro's instagram post about penalizing Opex for using small metal plates to make bar-facing burpees easier.

I agree with the penalty. It was definitely done to make the burpees easier.

However, the interesting thing is the workout description did not specify the height of the bar for the bar-facing-burpees.

By, contrast, 14.5 (thrusters and bar-facing burpees) stated this:

Equipment
Barbell
Plates to load to the appropriate weight for your division

* If you do not use standard size bumper plates on the barbell you will also need:
A 9.5-inch high target to jump over on the burpees

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

I think that ruling will move OPEX from 5th to around 55th. Might just sink their chances to go the regionals.
