Calories Burned During CrossFit?

Do any of you have a good idea of the number of calories burned during CrossFit, or know if there have been any studies done? I know the amount of calories burned depends on a lot of factors, including bodyweight, time, and intensity. I created a Calories Burned During CrossFit chart using the MET rate for vigorous calisthenics incorporating weights as a best fit, but perhaps there is a better gauge?

"Doing CrossFit" involves any number of different exercises in any number of combinations of the metabolic pathways. Not to mention that metabolic rate is heavily individualized. I don't think there's any good way to actually calculate that.

I use a Garmin 610 with heart rate monitor chest strap during WODs - 200-450 calories is the range I see, from warm-up to completion.

What type of WOD's are you doing, and what duration? 200-450cal seems pretty low for an hour of balls out Crossfit, but probably pretty close for a half hour. I've had issues with Garmin's calculation models based on HR for Crossfit in the past. I've shown peak calorie burn rates over 1,000cal per hour with HR monitoring. I have a 310 watch and a 500 cycling computer from them, waiting for the replacement for the 910 watch to come out before I upgrade again this time.

Most WODs are scaled, lifting, AMRAPS (5-20 min), and rounds for time. Usually 3/week around noon.

That actually lines up pretty well with the chart I created using the MET values.. interesting. Thanks for sharing.

When I measured using a HRM, it was 10/minute on a metcon.
