Rope climb leg sleeve?

Hi everybody,

Recently, I actually did a WOD with 6 rope climbs in it... which was great for my pride but horrible for the skin on the side of my leg I left a good amount of it on the rope!

On one of the crossfit videos, I saw a woman climbing the rope and she had a black sleeve on the leg with the rope wrapped around it. She had a similar technique to mine, and I'd really like to get a sleeve like that.

The video is here... http://www.crossfit.com/cf-info/excercise.html#WOD
titled... Hang Clean-Squat Thrust-Rope Climb WOD

Anyway, if anybody knows what this is called (so I can at least google it) or where I might get one, I'd appreciate it.

It actually looks like some kind of neoprene/rubber knee or elbow brace just sized for her lower leg and slipped down to act as a guard. I'd try something like that and just fit it for size. After all, it looks like its job is to keep the skin on your leg. You might also just try wearing long socks--70s style J/K

Megan,

Just google "calf sleeve" there will be many products that come up. McDavid makes just your average neoprene sleeve for compression and warmth. Rehband makes heavy duty ones for strongman lifting. Then there are the medical grade ones for circulation and ademia(sp?) problems.

It is not just a knee sleeve worn lower and smaller. If you can wrap it up someone makes a sleeve also.

This is a simple fix with either tall socks or long pants.

A not so easy fix, but better workout would be to climb without the legs. Also, you gotta "climb" down as well as up. Don't try to slide.

I have just recently mastered both the leg wrap and the clamp foot rope climb so the no feet rope climb is still in my future, not my present.
