hey all,
this is to everyone in chicago. i was just wondering how far it is from Great Lakes, Mich. to Chicago? i will be going to Navy Basic and "A" school out there, and it would be really great if in the between schools i could work out with some crossfitters.

If you live around Palatine check out this YMCA
http://www.buehlerymca.org/
I spoke with the Gymnastic director and they have adult classes. She even said she could create a class with enough people to whatever skills we were interested in. Here is a quote from her:

We have all of the supplies that the crossfit website lists as needed ... rings, paraellettes, medicine balls, climbing ropes, plyometric boxes, chin-up bar, etc.

Probably too far for me but I hope someone gets to use this place.

Dave! Thanks for the info. I'll check it out. I'm in Arlington Heights - not too far from Palatine. However, I might not have time for it this summer because I am going to take an Olympic and Power lifting class at Harper. I also do Krav Maga 3 times a week now. There is another gymnastics place in the area that I've found - American Academy of Gymnastics in Wheeling, right around Wheeling Road and Palatine Highway. Maybe it's closer to you. They have open hours on Sunday for $5. I went once so far. Did some dips on rings. Couldn't locate parallel bars. Found some cool trampolines. Horizontal bars are all there. However, I didn't feel right - the same way as if someone learning to skate for the first time came to a skating ring. An adult class with some instruction is really what I need. As far as doing some stuff outside, again, don't know if going to have time. I sometime play tennis with my friends around Niles. Maybe you'll bring your medicine balls. I'll get in touch with you when it gets warmer.

P.S. Had a drills day yesterday - practised handstands and walking on hands. Was able to keep a handstand for like 5-6 seconds. Took a few steps. Really excited!

Robb:

We are back in late June. Though we have some trips planned in July and we need to get settled.

We are very, very excited to get to Chico (when it's not 105 degrees that is). We want to see you and see the place. We are really looking forward to it. Let's set something up!!
