I have a problem with my HSPUs. I always lean against a wall for support. However, I face the wall I can crank out a lot of reps. If I face away from the wall, I can't do many at all.

I think a lot is due to balance and perhaps weight distribution.

Any thoughts or suggestions on how to improve.

Thanks,

Theron Mathis

Hi Theron,

I encountered this same problem before. See if this thread helps: http://www.crossfit.com/discus/messages/22/4557.html

Ryan,

Thanks for the link. How are you doing on the HSPUs now?

I'm still not where I used to be, but I'm getting better. My current max with good form, back towards wall is 12 (I tested it about 3 months ago, IIRC). Before the 'switch', I was at 15.

What is the correlation between HSPUs and bodyweight military presses? I can't do one of either yet, but I think I'm closer to a complete HSPU.
