Eugene Allen's Birthday Pullup Challenge

The Third Annual Pullupathon is upon us. For the first two years we had a somewhat exclusive club going for 50 pullups in 2005 to a somewhat silly 65 pullups last year. The idea, the goal was that number and that made for a rather exclusive event. I would rather this be a bit more inclusive this year by making it simply a PR day for pullups so you can have the number you say when people ask how many pullups you can do.

The rules are simple:

1. Do as many pullups as you can on November 27, 2007.
2. No grip aids, no bands, no jumping, no resting...just jump up on the bar and do as many pullups as you can until you drop off the bar.
3. Any grip and you can change as you go as long as you stay on the bar.
4. Chin over on the top and arms straight at the bottom.

Simple; jump up, pull a bunch of times and keep track. Post your number here and I will record them on a spread sheet. To keep everyone honest and avoid sandbagging, please sign in with how many you will be shooting for. I am shooting for 65 again this year as I only got 62 last year.

Re: Eugene Allen's Birthday Pullup Challenge

I recently did 30 consecutively for the first time, so I'll be going for 40 in this event (might as well shoot high). I'm excited.

Re: Eugene Allen's Birthday Pullup Challenge

I'm already involved in a one arm chin up competition, but what with all the chinups I'll be doing in the metcons and all the weighted chin ups, I suppose I could take a stab at this.

Current: 16 pullups, first deadhang, then kipping like a drunk monkey.
Goal: I've hit twenty before, so I guess I could go for, say, thirty.

Re: Eugene Allen's Birthday Pullup Challenge

I'm down. My previous PR is 22. I'm gonna shoot for 30. I really need to develop a better kip before this takes place.

I'm in for 33 (my age). This is about 10 more than my average max, so it will be interesting.

I'll put up for 40+ kipping.

Hope I can put my guns where my mouth is .

Re: Eugene Allen's Birthday Pullup Challenge

Did 30 in one minute 3 months ago. Haven't been doing pullups much lately. Maybe by nov., and if I can keep from ripping my hands over and over, I'll be able to hit 40?

Re: Eugene Allen's Birthday Pullup Challenge

Hmm. Nov 27? Alright, Eugene, put me down for a 50 spot. I'm probably talking out of my a$$ with that one. I've done 30 kipping several times, but might as well go big.
