Re: Eugene Allen's Birthday Pullup Challenge

Happy Birthday,

Goal was 33 and I hit 33. Performed outside on a freezing cold bar, it's cold up in Canada these days. Maybe that helped because my hands were frozen to the bar.

Re: Eugene Allen's Birthday Pullup Challenge

Happy Birthday!

I do chins as regular pull-ups hurt my knackered old rotator cuff.

Goal:5
Previous best: 3
Achieved: 5

Absolutely chuffed to bits with this, especially as I have a really nasty cold and feel as though I've been gargling razor blades.
Almost got 6 but failed near the top. I'm sure 10 is not far in my future.

Happy birthday, Eugene!

I'm sorry, today wasn't the day for my pullup debut. Couldn't do the one pullup. However, I did work my *** off today and I dedicate today's workout to you:

1 hour spin class
10,000m row in 51m. even
5 rounds of Cindy w/ jumping pullups
Annie w/ 150 single jumps and 50 situps
Helen: no row, 21 KB swings w/ 30 lb. KB, 12 jumping pu's
Diane: 21 DLs w/65 lbs., 21 push press w/ 15 lb. DBs
Karen: 50 wallballs w/ 10 lb. ball
Barbara: 21 jumping pullups, 30 pushups, 40 situps, 50 squats.

Many happy returns of the day.

Susie

Re: Eugene Allen's Birthday Pullup Challenge

Coach Martin, that's sick! Congratulations!

I posted a much more modest number, and fell short of my posted goal of 51. It turns out you can't add pullups without training pullups. Weird!

44 (PR +1)

Best,

Jon

Re: Eugene Allen's Birthday Pullup Challenge

Feliz cumpleaņos, Eugene!

35 kipping pullups, as predicted...but only barely. i hit muscle failure around 25, so i hung for a bit, switched grips, and pumped out another 10 chins.

all that and i've only done ~60 pullups since the end of august and today! seems like jon has a good point about training pull-ups...

Re: Eugene Allen's Birthday Pullup Challenge

sidelined for 1.5 weeks with an (elbow) cortisone shot. i still should have gotten to 13 of the predicted 15. got to 12 and hung 1/2 way up to 13 for about 15 secs. still...a pr by one and that would have been a pr by NONE without the challenge. thanks eugene, and happy day!!!

I assure you, it's quite possible. Well, at least the weighted variations will bring it up some.

Goal: 32
Actual: 32 and a final rep that fell short a few inches, hitting the bar with my chin.

I know I can do better, but now that I know what I can do, it'll be a lot easier mentally to pass 32 next time.
