Anyone know details on what happened to Kevin Ogar?

Saw that Kevin Ogar severed his spinal cord at T11/T12 during a missed snatch at the OC Throwdown this past weekend. I've never heard of such a serious injury in weightlifting and I can only imagine the bar came down right on his T/L junction, but does anyone know what actually happened? I can't find any detail and as a CrossFitter and healthcare professional I'm really interested to know what could've happened that would've caused that. So sad

Re: Anyone know details on what happened to Kevin Ogar?

I saw a tweet that said something about a 'nasty spill'. That's all I could find on it. I'm really curious as well.

More sad news, he apparently doesn't have medical insurance.

Can't get CrossFit Invictus website to load...

It's a sad story and certainly a freak accident. :-(

Don't have any details outside of the social media posts.

Don't donate to the fundly link. Barbells for Boobs will put up a page that doesn't take 8% off the top.

Well, yeah, VISA takes 3%, and Fundly takes 5%. Barbells for Boobs is setting up a page where there is no additional fee on top of the credit card processing. They hope to have it posted by tonight, so stay tuned for the link.

Damn that must have been a real freak accident. I feel terrible for the guy. In a split second his life is completely changed.

Re: Anyone know details on what happened to Kevin Ogar?

Was just told the events for OC Throwdown.

Sounds like it was an event the started with a 3RM touch and go snatch.

I'm sorry, but touch and go for load is really, incredibly irresponsible programming. And that's just one gripe I see about the events.

Freak accident, but less freak because it was helped along by circumstances of the competition.

Feel really bad to see someone with an injury like this...really awful.

I agree with others about the programming and don't like this trend in competitions.

I also saw a FB post saying that it took ~15 minutes for the paramedics to arrive. Do you know if that is true?
