Its killing me, is it killing him?

This guy that works next to me has been doing the Atkins diet. No exercise whatsoever. He's lost some weight.
But what's killing me is his breath. Smells like he eats week old road kill.
I know it's because of his diet, but exactly what about ketosis causes bad breath.
And is that healthy? Or is he setting himself up for some serious health problems?

Ketones get into the urine and saliva and are expelled in this manner. That's the cause of the bad breath. While bothersome, it's not a health risk.
