Those are the single ugliest deadlifts I have seen in a long time. That is partialy because no one in my gym dead lifts but still...
First I have a problem with the belt. Lots of problems with that. Second if one is going to do Romanian style straight leg dead lifts with real weight (250+lbs) one has to have good form. He doesn't have it. Third come on. The guy is huge. Lifting 360lbs really isn't that impressive from a guy who is tipping the scales somewhere over 200. Now if he was say 170lbs lean mass, and was doing that with proper form and no belt, same weight... well then I would at least not be disgusted. ...of course if it was the tiny guy doing 500lbs... He was the strongest man in the world after all, I don't know how big he is but I would imagine he's much more than 200 more like 300 It's not pretty though is it (Message edited by symzie on November 18, 2005) |

I'm not condoning this guys awesome form but I think it was 360 kilos. I can DL 350#'s and the bar doesn't bend like that. I've also never had a blood vessel pop in my nose while working out. Guess I'm not trying hard enough on ME days.

In case you don't know who he is:
Worlds strongest man in 97 and 99 http://www.dlc.fi/~gold-cam/jokke.html Sometimes just moving huge weight is more important than form. I often hear bodybuilders critisize Coleman form, but he's the most muscular man on the planet.... |

He may actually be doing the rounded back thing deliberately.
A number of the WSM events require rounded back deadlifting (stones) so the guys have to practice it. I believe PAvel Tsatsouline refers to it as imperfection training. Of course he may just have crap form but i'm not going to argue with him. |

Okay 360kgs is really damn impressive even with ****ty form and a belt.
Don Why would one do imperfection training exactly? As to his weight... yeah I just threw out a number, though I was thinking high 200's... Roger Do you really think he is the most muscular man on the planet? Simply being able to pick up a really heavy weight doesn't really make someone more muscular than someone else... |
