it probably seems rather obvious to the Crossfit community here but perhaps this tip could be of use to a newbie.

If you are in a big box gym and you want to do box jumps go into the area where they hold step classes and make 2 columns of 10 steps supports stacked and then put the step top on top and you'll have a nice 24" high platform to do the jumps.

it's strong enough for a least a 170lb jumper (me) and probably good for a bit more weight.

I do this as well, just watch the floor your on, as things can move on you... I also weigh in around 240lbs.
