Resistance band shelf life?

Wondering how long resistance bands typically last for you folks?

Girlfriend had a getrxd band tear while using them for assisted glute ham raises (100-120lb resistance), shes 115lb. The band is roughly a little over a year old if I had to guess.

I know there are tons of variables that apply. Its home gym used for various activities; shoulder mobility, seated rows, good mornings and the like.

Looking to stop by their store sometime this week. I've got a bunch of rogue ones which have held up fine so far. Have you guys experienced any difference with brands?

Thank you for any input.

We have been using Iron Woody bands for a long, long time (7+ years) and have been very happy with their durability.

+1. Had a set over 7 years, still intact!

Have you done any 'maintenance' on them? Serious question. The last set I bought recommended to wipe them down with any armor-all type rubber conditioner product to keep them from drying out. I've done that once or twice and mine still function & look like new after about a year of use..

I have not, but ill definitely give it a try. Thank you for the tip.

Its pretty humid here so I would never have given it any thought that bands could dry out.

Re: Resistance band shelf life?

If you see tears or scratches in the band, replace them. I only had to replace one because I had it looped over a pull-up bar in a place that a protruding screw cut a slash into it. I didn't want that snapping and smacking someone, so I replaced it.

Short of that, they'll last a long time.

I have heard of pallet bands being re-purposed as fitness bands. Pallet bands are not nearly as thick as Iron Woody bands, and they can wear out and break. With this piece of equipment it's best to buy the right thing for the job.

Re: Resistance band shelf life?

Just had to replace 40 Rogue bands, they keep fraying and so do the replacements. Sending them all back. Anyone else have this happen? We mainly use them for pull ups & dips and not adding to weighted movements. I had bad luck with Iron Woody as well that is why I switched to Rogue. Looking for another brand?

EliteFTS bands are good. Typically they have good sales on them every 3 months or so.

I use Rogue thin red and green for personal use and they seem ok. Had the red ones for a few years. They do lose a bit of their resistance. Mainly use them for stretches, long static holds, probably 3 months of intense use so far. In NYC.
