The "Door Way" Pull-up Bar for Tall Guys

We finally got a pull-up bar up that's tall enough for Woody (he's 6'6"). We bought some pipe and fittings at Lowe's and set it up in the garage attic opening. Luckily, the attic doesn't have stairs, so it was easy. We were originally going to buy an adjustable door way pull-up bar, but the diameter was pretty small, so decided to come up with something else. The attic opening is 26" wide, so we used a 24" long, 1" diameter pipe with a floor flange on one end and a bushing and floor flange on the other end. Just using a floor flange on each end left it about an inch or so short, so we added the bushing (1" to 1.5") and used a 1.5" floor flange on one end. Total cost was less that $25 and it took about 15 minutes to get it up. It ended up being about 8'4" high!
