Whats up with bacon?

Whats the CrossFit/Paleo obsession with bacon? I understand paleo is big into meat eating, high protein, etc. but how exactly is bacon "clean eating"?

Pig products, in general, are not clean. Pigs are filthy. They eat literally anything, and the toxins from the filth they eat stays in their systems because they dont sweat or chew their cud. (Im not jewish, btw.) Im not trying to attack any of you bacon freaks, just curious...

I don't care if you're following paleo, carb back loading, veganism, IIFYM, american fastfood diet, zone, gslp swole diet, liver detox diet, or any other diet anyone can come up with; Bacon is the win.

Exactly. Barring some religious belief, if you dont like bacon for some reason, the problem might just be you .

Re: Whats up with bacon?

Whats clean eating? Just wash the bacon before you eat it. If you dont like the taste, dont eat it.

Explain to me how a pasture/humanely raised pig or a wild boar is any "dirtier" than a CAFO cow who spends 3/4 of it's life standing in 1/2 foot of feces? Pigs are animals just like any other animal, completely and totally fit for human consumption so long as the animal was healthy.

If that's your problem with pigs, I hope you don't eat crab or lobster either, b/c they are both bottom feeders as well and will typically eat anything they come across. I believe the same goes for shrimp.

Re: Whats up with bacon?

How about fruits/vegetables planted in soil that's sometimes fertilized with manure?

I'm not saying bacon and pork products are the end-all, be-all of foods, but you end up on a very slippery slope if you head down the "pigs are filthy" road.
