just got owned by kelly

To the tune of 24:31.7

I was using a 28" tire for jumps, and I don't have a wall ball so I did thrusters with a 45# plate.

Killer workout. What was your Kelly time today? Who PR'ed?

Re: just got owned by kelly

One of my least favorite WOD's for sure. Have done it twice...both times within 4-5 months of starting Crossfit. It was not fun...at all.

I managed to break 30 min the second time I did it (29:30 I think). Rx WB and Box...and 400m runs. It would certainly go better for me now (coming up on 2 years of CF training) but it is a leg smoker and a gasser for sure

Re: just got owned by kelly

Most certainly smoked my legs, and it was the first WOD that i used my tire for jumps that was also for time. I need to work on technique since i am positive i wasted a lot of energy. I had used it for jumps last week but didn't worry much about speed, and this time around i felt really sloppy, especially later in the workout. I watched an efficeincy video, i think with matt chan, and the "top back to top of box" mindset will really help next go round.

If you mean bounding the jumps (recoiling at bottom on landing) do what you want but I would avoid bounding at all costs. Not worth blowing out your Achilles.

I did a variation of Kelly a couple months ago. A combo of WB's, Box jumps and 300m runs...this was in the Florida heat and humidity. It certainly went better but it was still a rough one.

I get owned by her everytime I go to BJJ class! Kelly Moore, the one it's named after, says to try subbing rowing for running. Enjoy!

Re: just got owned by kelly

We did a 3 round Kelly at our box awhile ago and it is a killer. Legs on the run, legs on the box jumps and legs on the wall balls.

Re: just got owned by kelly

I said after doing Kelly that 3 rds would be somewhat manageable (but still not fun and smoke your legs)...5 rounds is just awful. Swore I would never do it again
