Can anyone point me in the direction of a good starter book on whole foods nutrition for a teen athlete? My nephew has realized that his days of being what he calls a "sugartarian" are numbered. He's looking to his food dicatator uncle for some help although he wants to avoid what he calls my "weirdo organic" approach. So far I've advised him of the basics-limit intake of grains and if you do eat them eat only only grains, lots of vegetables, good fats, fish, grass fed beef, free range poultry products etc...
Since he previously would eat nothing but pasta or jelly beans, and thought putting Peeps in a microwave made a delicious snack I've got my work cut out for me.
As a beginner to whole nutritious food the zone or Paleo might freak him out. I'm thinking a trip to the grocery store might be the best thing.
