UC Berkeley

Hey guys,

Any UC Berkeley crossfitters or crossfitters from the local area that workout at the RSF?

Re: UC Berkeley

I can tell you that I worked out there a couple times on a CF-like protocol and it just about drove me bonkers. Good luck with no bumpers.

Re: UC Berkeley

Brandon,

I've done CF-like workouts at the RSF too, but I found it to be bearable. When and why were you in Berkeley? Are you still there?

Re: UC Berkeley

Born and raised there (currently at UC Santa Cruz -- well, CURRENTLY abroad, but ostensibly). Started CF last year and used the RSF for a few workouts when I was back home for the holidays.

Also tried the 24 Hour Fitness on Addison. That one's a damned heap.

Not really sure the best option, frankly... I'm sure the Cal sports teams must have good facilities available.

Re: UC Berkeley

try crossfit oakland. It's about a 10 min drive, or a 20 min bike ride.

Thanks for the tip Jason, and I'd definitely try it out if I weren't a poor college student. But the RSF (Cal's gym) is only $10 a semester, which is hard to pass up.

Re: UC Berkeley

When I was at Cal, I helped out with one of the weight training classes, and they let me use the football facilities for working out. That would be much more CF-like than the RSF gym, so you might try taking/helping out with one of those classes and asking them if you could use the "real" facilities at some scheduled time. You'd enjoy it much more.

Re: UC Berkeley

Mostly platforms and benches, and LOTS of weights. i don't remember if there was a PU bar, but it looked much more like a CF gym than the main gym at the RSF.

It was actually in the HAAS pavilion when I was last there. I hear they've been trying to get new facilities.
